Its great news for the Honda fans! Honda's flagship model in India the CITY is set to be replaced by a newer version (the 3rd generation) this festive season.
Looking back at history, the 1st Gen City was more a performance oriented car was the car for the enthusiast. The VTEC version had no real competition in terms of performance and sold like hot cakes until it was replaced by the 2nd gen City in 2005.
The 2nd Gen City was a radical deparuture from the original gen1 both in terms of design and performance. It was designed to appeal to a wider class of people with its better equipped and spacious interiors. But it no longer appealed to the performance crazy buyer.
And now the Gen3 City is set to make to our shores this October. These are some of the spy pics i could source from the internet. The radical design of the current City seem to have been "smoothened" a little and the Gen3 looks more mature and bigger. From the pictures it looks more spacious on the inside as well.
The front suggests it has inherited some genes from the Civic family! The rear looks pretty impressive thanks to those Accord-like tail lamps and a tight crease over its shoulers.
Honda is rumoured to be considering a 1.3 litre and a 1.5 litre as engine options for the new City and the good news is both are going to be VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control System)! There is a hybrid version in the pipeline as well. A good reason for celebrations this Diwali!
